BOTOX® is now available at Lethbridge Periodontal Associates.
BOTOX® is a cosmetic procedure that is injected into the skin for aesthetic purposes. It is made of a natural purified protein that relaxes muscles by blocking the message from the nerve to the muscle.
BOTOX® is given through an injection with an ultrafine needle. If a patient is worried about sensitivity in the area, we can place ice in the area before administering the BOTOX®.
For your first BOTOX® treatment, we recommend time for both a consultation, and the actual procedure.
Depending on circumstances, the procedure takes about 10-15 minutes, but we recommend you spend an hour with us to fill out appropriate paperwork, and begin your consultation.
We start our patients with a consultation to find out if they are good candidate for BOTOX®.
We then take photos to aid in the discussion of treatment options. We offer advice and answer any questions you may have about the procedure. Once you are ready, we can begin the procedure that day.
BOTOX® treatments vary amongst patients, and therefore, each patient experiences the procedure and results differently. We generally recommend visiting us for a follow up appointment 2 weeks after the initial appointment.
After BOTOX® treatment, Dr. Basarab recommends that you exercise the facial muscles involved for the first 1-2 hours. Make sure to book an appointment for your two week follow up.
Strenuous exercise is not recommended. Do not rub the area for the 4 hours following the procedure. Do not lie down right after the procedure. For the 4 hours following the procedure, apply make-up lightly, if necessary.
BOTOX® cosmetic relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkling in the skin. Since every patient is different, there will be different results for all.
Some patients may experience tenderness in the injection site, bruises a brief headache and ptosis.
Each and every patient is different. If you are interested in learning if you are a candidate for BOTOX®, please visit our office today.
The cost of BOTOX® treatment is determined by the amount of medication that is required. Since every patient is different, the cost and results will vary.
